From the Detroit Tigers he was exchanged for Mike Derrick to the Pittsburgh Pirates. From the Pirates he was sent to the San Diego Padres and the Chicago Cubs. He has also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros. From the Astros he was bought by the San Diego Padres on the 1st of August 1974.
