Chief Hogsett (full name: Elon Chester Hogsett; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1931 until 1944 for the Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Browns and Washington Senators. He played for the Tigers from 1931 - 1944, Browns from 1936 - 1937 and Senators in 1938. Over 11 seasons, he started 114 games, won 63 games, struck out 441 batters, and had a 5.02 ERA. Born on November 2, 1903 in Brownell, KS, Hogsett stood 6' 0" and weighed 190 lb. He attended Brownell (Brownell, KS) (All Transactions) high school. His debut was on September 18, 1929 and he played his final game on June 3, 1944. Common misspellings of his name include Elon cheif Chester Chief Hogsett.
