About Cheryl Ford Memorabilia & Collectibles
Cheryl Ford’s basketball talents may not all be hers. The famous WNBA player is the daughter of retired NBA power forward Karl Malone. Ford has played basketball for her high school varsity team in Summerfield, Louisiana. In 1999, she was selected to play in the WBCA High School All-American Game.
Ford decided to attend Louisiana Tech University for college. She was named into the Associate Press’ All American Honorable Mention team in 2003. She also became the Western Athletic Conference “Player of the Year” in both 2002 and 2003.
Ford started her professional career in basketball after she was selected by the Detroit Shock during the 2003 WNBA Draft. She led the underperforming team to the WNBA championship of that year. At the same time, Ford was able to receive the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award, a first in the WNBA history.
Ford played for the Dallas Fury in the NWBL. In 2007, Ford was named the MVP for the WNBA All-Star Game. Ford signed with the Tulsa Shock of the WNBA in 2010. At the end of the 2009 NBA season, Ford was making 7.4 rebounds and 8.6 points for every game.
