Charles White is a former American professional football player who hails from Los Angeles, California. He took his college education when he attended the University of Southern California where he was notable for playing college football with the USC Trojans. Throughout his college career, White garnered numerous awards with the Trojans in 1979; Winner of the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award and UPI Player of the Year.
As a pro football player from 1980 to 1988, White played as running back for two teams in the National Football League; The Cleveland Browns and the Los Angeles Rams. White began his professional football career after he was drafted in the 1980 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Brown in the first round pick. After his four seasons in the Browns, White was released before the start of the 1985 season.
After his release from the Browns in 1985, he was then acquired by the Los Angeles Rams and White was reunited with his former college coach, John Robinson, who was at that time coaching the Rams. White played for the Rams for three seasons, from 1985 to 1987. And in 1987 White enjoyed his finest year as a pro, which earned him his lone Pro Bowl Game in that 1987 season. After his retirement, White joined USC as running backs coach in 1993 up to 1997.
