Charles Haley has played for the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. He was born on January 6, 1964 in Lynchburg, Virginia and was named Charles Lewis Haley.
This enthusiastic football player was first drafted during the fourth round of the 1986 National Football League Draft from James Madison University. He is a very flexible and versatile player. He started off as an outside linebacker and eventually played as a pass-rusher to a full-fledged defensive end player. He had played for the San Francisco in 1986-1991 where he won a ring from Super Bowl XXIII and XXIV in the 1988 and 1989 seasons. In 1992, Haley was traded to Dallas and he was fortunate enough to be in the team. Through the team, he was able to join another football dynasty at its peak. He also won three more Super Bowl rings in the four seasons in 1992, 1993, and 1995.
Due to an injury, Haley was forced to file an early retirement in 1996. But then, he became an assistant coach and defensive assistant for the Detroit Lions. Haley had successfully recorded 100 quarterback sacks, 2 interceptions, 8 fumble recoveries, and one touchdown during his 12 National Football League seasons. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha which is the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity that was established for African-Americans.
