About Casey Wise Memorabilia & Collectibles
Kendall Cole “Casey” Wise was formerly a Major League Baseball infielder. He was from West Lafayette, Indiana and was born on September 8, 1932. He threw right handed and batted with both stance and attended college at the University of Florida.
Casey Wise got his nickname from his initials and first appeared in a game for the Chicago Cubs against the Milwaukee Braves on April 16, 1957. His career batting average was below the Mendoza line, which is the term used in baseball for the verge of inept hitting, and when it wasn’t the worst average, it is still considered in strife. However, Wise was able to pitch in the 1958 World Series against the New York Yankees while playing for the Milwaukee Braves. His last appearance as a player in MLB was on July 3, 1960 in a game also against the New York Yankees. After retiring, he became a respected orthodontist in Naples, the first to practice in 1968. He retired from that practice in 1991. Wise’s batting average was .174, with 3 home runs and 17 runs batted in. He died at the age of 74 on February 20, 2007.
