Casey Fossum is a professional baseball player in the Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan. Fossum also played in the Major League Baseball for such teams as the Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Detroit Tigers and New York Mets.
Before going professional, this left handed player attended Midway High School in Texas and then to the Texas A&M University where he was able to lead the university’s varsity team to the 1999 College World Series in Nebraska. Fossum was able to receive the All-Big 12 honors, C.E. “Pat” Olsen Outstanding Pitcher Award in that year and was named into the second team of the 1998 All-American.
During the 1998 MLB Draft, was selected by the Boston Red Sox and was able to pitch in 75 games which included 14 victories and 2 saves. In 2004, he played for the Arizona Diamondbacks where he was a starting pitcher. He was able to start in 27 games, pitched in 142 innings and make 117 strikeouts.
Fossum went on to play for the Rays, Tigers, Mets, Yankees and the minor league baseball’s Chicago Cubs before opting to play for the Hanshin Tigers in the NPB.
