About Carlos Quintana Memorabilia & Collectibles

Carlos Quintana, born in Mamporal, Venezuela, is a former professional baseball player. Quintana had his high school education at Miranda Venezuela. Quintana started his professional baseball career in the Major League Baseball after signing a contract in November 26, 1984 as amateur free agent with the Boston Red Sox, a team where he played with the entire length of his professional baseball career from 1988 up to 1993. He was billed at 6 ft. and 175 lbs. batted and threw with his right. His position was first baseman and right fielder. Quintana made his professional debut on September 16, 1988.

Before Quintana could ever make his debut in the Major Leagues, he worked his way up the Red Sox minor league system over the next four years following his contract signing in 1984, playing for Elmira, Greensboro, New Britain and Pawtucket. In 1990, two years after his pro debut and during the spring training Quintana became a full time first baseman. The next two seasons following 1990, Quintana receive a status as an excellent defensive first basement and an intellectual batter who maintained a soaring base percentage, albeit not having much power or speed.

Quintana became involved in an automobile accident in town of Tacarigua de Mamporal, Venezuela in February 1992. According to sources, Quintana with his two brothers, Roberto and Eddie, were in a party when both of his brothers were shot, and Carlos Quintana rushed them to the hospital when the accident happened. Quintana was able to return in the 1993 season, though he wasn’t a hundred percent cleared to play. And at the last part of the 1993 season Quintana announced his retirement in the Major Leagues, after which he spent more than a season in the Venezuelan League where he played in the 1994 season for the Buffalo Bisons.
