Carlos Quentin is a Mexican American professional baseball player. Quentin is currently playing with the Chicago White Sox posed ass an outfielder. Prior to playing in the Major Leagues, Quentin already had a remarkable sports career in both high school and college. At University of San Diego High School, Quentin had a three-sport standout, excelling in baseball, football, and basketball. Besides sports, Quentin was also on his high school’s honor roll. Quentin then went to Stanford University to take his college education, where he excelled more.

 

Quentin’s Stanford career was outstanding; he was named All Pacific-10 Conference the three seasons he played from freshman, sophomore to junior. In Quentin’s junior season in 2003, he was named Third Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and became one of five finalists for the Golden Spikes Award, which is awarded yearly to the most excellent amateur baseball player.

 

Quentin began his professional career in the Major League Baseball when he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was the 1st round pick of the team in the 2003 MLB Draft. Quentin was listed at 6 ft. 2 in. and 235 lbs. He batted and threw using his right. However, on the same year he started, Quentin sat out after he undergone Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. After he has recovered he rapidly became part of an able core of young Diamondback prospects and later on, dealt to the Chicago White Sox. On December 3, 2007, Quentin had been dealt to the Chicago White Sox for first baseman Christopher Carter. In 2008, Quentin was a huge astonishment for the White Sox, rising to become one of the team's most excellent hitters. Also in 2008, Quentin was selected as an All Star.
