About Carlos Pena Memorabilia & Collectibles
Carlos Pena is a professional baseball player and is currently in the Tampa Bay Rays roster. Pena was born in Santo Domingo but moved to the United States with his family when he was 14. Pena went on to study in Haverhill High School and then to Wright State University in Ohio. However, Pena transferred to Northeastern University after just one semester. Pena played in the Cape Cod League.
Pena became eligible to join the 1998 MLB draft and was a first round pick by the Texas Rangers. Pena went on to play for the minor affiliates of the Texas Rangers until he was called up to the Majors during the 2001 season. Pena was able to play in 22 games and finished the season with an batting average of .258.
During the 2002 season, Pena was traded to the Oakland Athletics after which he was traded to the Detroit Tigers. After playing for a short time with the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, Pena ended up with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2007. During that same season, Pena received the Silver Slugger Award and the American League Comeback Player of the Year Award. In the succeeding season, Pena received the Gold Glove Award and was selected as an All-Star in 2009.
