Carl Victor Herrera Alleyne, simply known as Carl Herrera, is a former National Basketball Association athlete who played for the Houston Rockets. Herrera was born on December 14, 1966 in Trinidad and Tobago. He attended Jacksonville Junior College in Texas and was also a student of University of Houston. He was picked by the Miami heat to play in the National Basketball Association in 1990. He was a 30th pick overall in the 1990 NBA Draft. In 1991, he played his first rookie season in NBA for the Houston Rockets. He stayed with the Rockets until 1995. The team was able to defeat the Orlando Magic in the NBA Championship by a four-game victory over the Magic. That win gave the Rockets their second NBA title. He joined the San Antonio Spurs after his stint with the Rockets. His final season in the NBA was spent with the Denver Nuggets and the Vancouver Grizzlies. Reviews say he was one great player in the league.
After his NBA career, Herrera went back to play in the Venezuelan Basketball League. He played for the Venezuelan National Team. At present, Herrera coaches the Venezuela Basketball League LNB team Gatos de Monagas. He is currently resides in Venezuela with his wife and four children.
