Miami Dolphins wearing the jersey number 91 of the National Football League, Derek Cameron Wake is an undrafted free agent for the New York Giants in 1995. He played football in Penn State during his collegiate years and joined the
Nittany Lions as a defensive end in football. He linked himself to the
New York Giants for a short period of time but was released two months after. He then signed in the Canadian Football League under the BC Lions in May 2007. He became the defensive player of the week in the 2007 CFL season after the BC Lions won against the Toronto Argonauts. In the end of the 2007 CFL season, he was awarded the CFL 2008 Most Outstanding Defensive Player and recognized as the Friday Night Gladiator of the Year by the TNS.
When the 2008 CFL season ended, he became the target of interest in many teams but chose to sign up with the Miami Dolphins on the 15th of January 2009. He has posted 80 tackles, 19.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 0 interception.
