Calvin Hill is a former professional football player who appeared in the National Football League. Born on January 2, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland, he finished college at Yale University where he was a multi-game athlete. He started his professional playing career in 1969 with the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys selected him as a 24th overall pick in the first round of the 1969 NFL Draft. He played for the Cowboys until 1974 and later on joined the World Football League and played for the The Hawaiians in 1975. With the Hawaiians, He rushed 218 yards and carried the ball for 49 times but failed to make any touchdown. He went back to play in the National Football League in 1976 to play for the Washington Redskins. He spent two years with the redskins and was released by the team in 1976. His last team in the national league was the Cleveland Browns with which he stayed from 1979 to 1981.
He posted a career record of 6,083 rushing yards and 42 touchdowns. He had 4.2 rushing yards average. He was a Pro-Bowl Selection for four times in 1969, 1972, 1973 and 1974. He was chosen for the All-Pro twice and was awarded as the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1969.
