About Burgess Whitehead:
Burgess Whitehead (full name: Burgess Urquhart Whitehead; Whitey) played second baseman, third baseman and shortstop from 1933 until 1946 for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Cardinals from 1933 - 1935, Giants from 1936 - 1941 and Pirates in 1946. Over 9 seasons, he played 924 games, hit 17 home runs, drove in 415 runs, and stole 51 bases. Born on June 29, 1910 in Tarboro, NC, Whitehead stood 5' 10" and weighed 160 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on April 30, 1933 and he played his final game on September 29, 1946. Common misspellings of his name include Burgess Burgess Urquhart Whitey Whitehead.
