Bump Hadley (full name: Irving Darius Hadley; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1931 until 1941 for the Washington Senators, Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Browns, New York Yankees, New York Giants and Philadelphia Athletics. He played for the Senators from 1931 - 1935, White Sox in 1932, Browns from 1932 - 1934, Yankees from 1936 - 1940, Giants in 1941 and Athletics in 1941. Over 16 seasons, he started 355 games, won 161 games, struck out 1318 batters, and had a 4.24 ERA. Born on July 5, 1904 in Lynn, MA, Hadley stood 5' 11" and weighed 190 lb. He attended Mercersburg Academy (Mercersburg, PA) high school. His debut was on April 20, 1926 and he played his final game on September 16, 1941. Common misspellings of his name include Irving Bump Darius Hadley.
