Bubba Phillips (full name: John Melvin Phillips; no nicknames) played third baseman and outfielder from 1955 until 1964 for the Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians. He played for the Tigers from 1955 - 1964, White Sox from 1956 - 1959 and Indians from 1960 - 1962. Over 10 seasons, he played 1062 games, hit 62 home runs, drove in 348 runs, and stole 25 bases. Born on February 24, 1928 in West Point, MS, Phillips stood 5' 9" and weighed 180 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on April 12, 1955 and he played his final game on September 18, 1964.
