Daniel Lamont "Bubba" Franks was born January 6, 1978 in the town of Riverside, California. Bubba went to Big Spring High School Texas where he also played high school football. During the 2000 NFL Draft, Green Bay Packers drafted him in the 14th overall. While still in college, he played for the team at Miami Florida which was considered as the first collegiate football course in the nation. Bubba was popular for his unusual one-handed receptions. For the seasons 1997, 1998 and 1999, he helped the University of Miami have a record for most touchdowns by a tight end. Bubba's honors and awards include the All-Big East team for twice in a row, the All-American in 1999 and the Sporting News Freshman All-American.
During the 2000 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected him at the first round.
