Brett Harper is a professional baseball player. He is currently playing in the Minor League Baseball. Presently, he is employed by the Oakland Athletics organization. Harper was born in Salt Lake City in Utah and is the son of retired baseball player Brian Harper. Brett Harper attended Scottsdale Community College.
In 2000, Harper became eligible to enter the MLB Draft and was selected by the New York Mets during the 45th round. He was assigned to play in the Appalachian League for the Kinsport Mets and then in the South Atlantic League for the Capital City during his first year of playing professionally. In the following season, Harper played for the Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York-Pennsylvania League and recorded a batting average of .279 with the Cyclones.
He split time between the three teams that he had previously played for with the addition of the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League in 2003. For that season, he was able to record a .310 BA. In 2005, Harper was able to appear in a few games for the Binghamton Mets of the Eastern League. In 2006 and 2007, he played exclusively for Binghamton and came up with .338 and .296 BA for the two seasons respectively.
