Brendan Ryan has been recognized to play at second and third base and has dabbled with pitching. He was born March 26, 1982 in Los Angeles, California. An American Major League Baseball infielder, currently playing shortstop for the St. Louis Cardinals. He uses Number 13 and known for his excellence in using his right hand for both bats and throws during his games. As of August 18, 2010 his batting average is .263, Home Runs is 9 and Runs Batted is 81. His father was a shortstop/third baseman for Loyola Marymount University during his time. Willie Ryan a former National Champion First Team All-American first baseman for USC Trojans baseball team was his uncle. Another member of their clan is Dr. Patrick Ryan of UCLA and Michigan State.

 

Before Brendan Ryan became a professional player he was once a member of the Knights CIF Southern Section runner-up team. Ryan also became a member of several Area Code and American Legion teams during his high school days. When he entered college at Lewis-Clark State College, which is a small NAIA school in Lewiston, Idaho, he became one of the promising player of his time and for the season of 2002 he hit safely in 18 straight games and became known as a good defensive infielder.

 

Ryan joined the MLB amateur draft and was chosen in the seventh round (215th overall) by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2003. New Jersey Cardinals in 2003, and was promoted as Cardinals Class A affiliate, the Peoria Chiefs in 2004.
