Brandon Leray Rush is a professional basketball player from Kansas City, Missouri. He spent his collegiate basketball career playing for the University of Kansas and was part of the 2007- 2008 national championship team.
Rush led Kansas against the North Carolina Tar Heelsin the 2008 NCAA championship title. It was also during this year that he was named to the All- Big 12 First Team and the Most Valuable Player. He was supposed to join the 2007 NBA draft but was sidelined because of the injury he suffered in a pickup basketball game. He underwent a successful surgery for his anterior cruciate ligament which brought him back to the Kansas starting lineup. He has two Wooden Award All- American titles in his win column, one in 2007 and another in 2008. He was also chosen as the top small forward in all of college basketball by Rivals.com. When he joined the 2008 National Basketball Association Entry Draft in 2008, he was selected as the 13th overall pick by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. He was then traded off to the Indiana Pacers for Jerryd Bayless and Ike Diogu. To date, Rush has played in 157 regular season games with an average of 8.8 points per game and his rebound average is at 3.7.
