Brad Van Pelt was a former American professional football player in the National Football League. He was born in Owosso, Michigan. Van Pelt played as a linebacker for a few teams in the national league; the New York Giants, Los Angeles Raiders and the Cleveland Browns. Van Pelt took his college education and played college football at the Michigan State University. Van Pelt was remarkable during his college football career; as a matter of fact he won in 1972 the Maxwell Award as college football's best player.
He was listed at 6 ft. 5 in. and 235 lbs. Van Pelt started his professional career in the National Football League after he was drafted by the New York Giants during the 1973 NFL Draft. He was the second round pick of the team during the draft. Playing for the Giants, Van Pelt became a member of the group named Crunch Bunch, which is a team of linebackers composed of Van Pelt, Brian Kelley, Lawrence Taylor, and Harry Carson. Van Pelt’s last season was on 1986 where he played for the Cleveland Browns. In 2001, Van Pelt was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Brad Van Pelt passed away at the age of 57 on February 17, 2009 due to heart attack.
