 Brad Penny is a starting pitcher in the Major League Baseball and is currently part of the St. Louis Cardinals. Born in Blackwell, Oklahoma, Penny went to Broken Arrow Senior High. While playing high school baseball, Penny was an All-American and was named as the Pitcher of the Year for the Frontier Conference.

 

During the 1996 MLB draft, Penny was picked by the Arizona Diamondbacks during the fifth round. After signing with the Diamondbacks, Penny was able to participate in the Arizona Summer League and came in fourth with a 2.36 ERA among pitchers. He was the Organizational Pitcher of the Month for the Arizona Diamondbacks during the month of August.

 

In 1998, Penny was named into the Minor League All-Star’s first team and was the Pitcher of the Year for the California League. Penny was also named as the MVP and the Minor League Player of the Year for the Diamondbacks.

 

In 1999, Penny was traded to the Florida Marlins and was able to break into the majors during the 2000 season. Penny had a.533 winning percentage and was a runner up among all rookies for the stat. Penny was also an integral part of the team during the 2003 World Series bid against the Yankees.

 

Penny was named as an All-Star in 2006 and 2007 while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
