Boo Ferris is a retired Major League Baseball player who became famous for being a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. His real name is Dave Meadow Ferris.
Ferris went to the Mississippi State University and pitched for the university’s varsity baseball team. He played with the Mississippi State University for two seasons after which he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox. He was not able to play straightaway since he was called for military duty. In 1945, he was released and played in the minor league for a short while before joining the Red Sox.
Ferris was able to participate in the World Series where the Red Sox had to face the St. Louis Cardinals. He retired in 1950 due to problems with his arm and his asthma.
Ferris became the Boston Red Sox’s Pitching Coach from 1955-1959. He was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2002.
