Robert William Weiss is a former basketball player and head coach in the National Basketball Association in America. He is from Easton, Pennsylvania and was born on May 7, 1942. At present, he serves as head coach for the Shanxi Zhongyu of the Chinese Basketball Association.
Weiss spent his collegiate career in the Penn State University and recorded a 16.3 point per game average during his senior year. He was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1965 NBA Draft. He was part of the 76ers team that won the 1967 NBA title against the then San Francisco Warriors. He was then sent to the Seattle SuperSonics. He had a 12- season career with the NBA, 6 of which he spent playing for the Chicago Bulls. In 1977, upon retirement, he served as an assistant coach for the Buffalo Braves, and then moved to the Dallas Mavericks in 1980. He worked as a head coach for the 1st time with the San Antonio Spurs in 1986 and led them to the playoffs. He then moved to the Orlando Magic and then to the Atlanta Hawks. He left in 1993 to serve as head coach for a year to the Los Angeles Clippers and then went to the Sonics again as an assistant coach. He was promoted as head coach in 1996 but was fired halfway to the season as the Sonics struggled to a losing record.

Bob Weiss (full name: Robert William Weiss; Bob, Bobby) played Guard from 1966 until 1977 for the Philadelphia 76ers, Seattle Supersonics, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Buffalo Braves and Washington Bullets. Over 12 seasons, he played 783 games, scored 5989 points (7.6 ppg) and grabbed 1398 rebounds (1.8 rpg). Weiss also dished out 2931 assists (3.7 apg), made 287 steals (0.4 spg), and blocked 52 shots (0.1 bpg) during his career. Born in Easton, Pennsylvania on May 7, 1942, Weiss stands 6-2 and weighs 180 lbs. He attended high school at Athens Area in Athens, Pennsylvania and college at Pennsylvania State University. He was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 3rd round (5th pick, 22nd overall) of the 1965 NBA draft.
