A football player from Throckmorton, Texas, Bob Lilly was born on July 26, 1939. He is a former American football player and photographer.
When he was in college, he was a two-time All-South West Conference pick and a consensus All-American while at TCU. Just one year before he joined the Cowboys, he was chosen for the Kodak Coaches’ All-America team. He was given an award which was part of his honor and this award includes a 35mm camera and a one year supply of film. He was fascinated by the award and he made use of it by taking photographs of people and places that he encountered in his career in the National Football League.
Lilly started his careers as a defensive end in 1961 and he was moved to defensive tackle. He was also called “Mr. Cowboy.” He was also inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980. It was on 1999 when he ranked number 10 on the Sporting News’ list of 100 Greatest Football Players. And it is where he is listed as the highest-ranking defensive lineman and the highest-ranking Cowboy. Lilly was the first player who spent his entire career with the Cowboys who was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After he retired from the National Football League, he had enhanced his skills in photography. His photographs were featured as a cover story in the June 2004 issue of Petersen’s photographic.
