About Bob Feller Memorabilia & Collectibles
Former Major League Baseball pitcher and Hall of Famer, Bob Feller was one of the “Big Four” Cleveland Indians pitchers. He was born on November 3, 1918 in Van Meter, Iowa. He is a son of a farmer and he was exposed to numerous arduous chores that helped him become more powerful and physically fit.
He spent 18 years playing for the
Cleveland Indians. Feller has pitched three no-hit games and shares a major league record with 12 one-hitters. He was also the first pitcher to garner 20 wins or more before he reached the age of 21. Because of this remarkable performance, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. He was 17 when he struck out 17 batters. In 1940 season, he pitched a no-hitter against the
Chicago White Sox with the help of the second baseman,
Ray Mack. He retired on 1956 and marked a dubious major league record for most walks in a career. Feller still holds the 20th Century record for most walks in one season.
It was in December 8, 1941 when he enlisted in the Navy and volunteered for combat service. He became the chief of an anti-aircraft gun crew of the USS Alabama. He had missed a total of four seasons in his service in the World War II. He ranked number 36 on The Sporting News list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players and he was also nominated as a finalist for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team.
