African-American Theodore Blue Edwards is a retired professional NBA player. During the 1989 NBA Draft, he was picked by the Utah Jazz, 21st overall pick, from the East California University. He belonged to the 1990 NBA All-Rookie 2nd Team together with other top rookies such as
Glen Rice. He was able to record the first triple-double in the Vancouver Grizzlies’ history against the Dallas Mavericks. He was ranked fourth overall in points per game in the Grizzlies’ first season. During the 1992-93 season, he was tied for scoring with
Frank Brickowski of the Milwaukee Bucks with 16.9 points per game.
Edwards was famous for his last-second game winning shots. He did one against the Minnesota Timberwolves which ended his team’s 23-game losing streak. He also hit one against the Philadelphia 76ers. Blue was invited to the 1990 NBA Slam Dunk Contest in which he declined due to injury and was replaced by David Benoit. He joined in the same event in 1991, placing 6th.

Blue Edwards (full name: Theodore Edwards; Blue) played Guard-Forward from 1990 until 1999 for the Utah Jazz, Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, Vancouver Grizzlies and Miami Heat. Over 10 seasons, he played 704 games, scored 7585 points (10.8 ppg) and grabbed 2376 rebounds (3.4 rpg). Edwards also dished out 1409 assists (2.0 apg), made 728 steals (1.0 spg), and blocked 297 shots (0.4 bpg) during his career. Born in Washington, District of Columbia on October 31, 1965, Edwards stands 6-4 and weighs 200 lbs. He attended high school at Greene Central in Snow Hill, North Carolina and college at East Carolina University. He was drafted by the Utah Jazz in the 1st round (21st pick, 21st overall) of the 1989 NBA draft.
