Billy Klaus (full name: William Joseph Klaus; no nicknames) played shortstop, third baseman and second baseman from 1952 until 1963 for the Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Senators and Philadelphia Phillies. He played for the Braves in 1952, Braves in 1953, Red Sox from 1955 - 1958, Orioles from 1959 - 1960, Senators in 1961 and Phillies from 1962 - 1963. Over 11 seasons, he played 821 games, hit 40 home runs, drove in 357 runs, and stole 14 bases. Born on December 9, 1928 in Spring Grove, IL, Klaus stood 5' 9" and weighed 160 lb. He attended Grant Community (Fox Lake, IL) high school. His debut was on April 16, 1952 and he played his final game on May 17, 1963. Common misspellings of his name include William billie Billy Joseph Klaus.
