About Bill Posedel:

Bill Posedel (full name: William John Posedel; Sailor Bill and Barnacle Bill) played pitcher from 1938 until 1946 for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Bees and Boston Braves. He played for the Dodgers in 1938, Bees from 1939 - 1940 and Braves from 1941 - 1946. Over 5 seasons, he started 87 games, won 41 games, struck out 227 batters, and had a 4.56 ERA. Born on August 2, 1906 in San Francisco, CA (All Transactions), Posedel stood 5' 11" and weighed 175 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on April 23, 1938 and he played his final game on September 13, 1946. Common misspellings of his name include Sailor Bill Barnacle William Will William John billy Bill Posedel.
