Bill Nicholson (full name: William Beck Nicholson; Swish) played rightfielder from 1936 until 1953 for the Philadelphia Athletics, Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies. He played for the Athletics in 1936, Cubs from 1939 - 1948 and Phillies from 1949 - 1953. Over 16 seasons, he played 1677 games, hit 235 home runs, drove in 837 runs, and stole 27 bases. Born on December 11, 1914 in Chestertown, MD, Nicholson stood 6' 0" and weighed 205 lb. He attended Chestertown (Chestertown, MD) high school. His debut was on June 13, 1936 and he played his final game on September 19, 1953. Common misspellings of his name include William Beck Bill billy Swish Will William Nicholson.
