Bill Melton (full name: William Edwin Melton; Beltin' Bill) played third baseman, rightfielder and first baseman from 1968 until 1977 for the Chicago White Sox, California Angels and Cleveland Indians. He played for the White Sox from 1968 - 1975, Angels in 1976 and Indians in 1977. Over 10 seasons, he played 1144 games, hit 160 home runs, drove in 496 runs, and stole 23 bases. Born on July 7, 1945 in Gulfport, MS, Melton stands 6' 2" and weighs 200 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on May 4, 1968 and he played his final game on August 30, 1977. Over his career, Melton made $85,000. Common misspellings of his name include Beltin' William Bill billy Edwin Will William Melton.
