 Bill Gadsy is a retired professional ice hockey player. He was a defenseman for the Chicago Black Hawks, New York Rangers and the Detroit Red Wings. He was active in the NHL from 1946 to 1960. Gadsy was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1970. 

He started his career after opting to join the Edmonton Canadians when he was just 17. It was while was playing for the Canadians when he would catch the eye of Bill Tobin who was a scout for the Chicago Black Hawks. Gadsy signed with the Hawks in 1946 and played for the Kansas City Pla-Mors of the USHL. He was called up to the Hawks after just 12 games in the minors. Gadsy was named into the All-Star Team in two instances while playing for the Hawks, in 1953 to 1954. 

After playing for the Hawks for nine seasons, he was traded to the New York Rangers. He was named into the NHL All-Star in four instances while playing for the Rangers—in 1956, 1957, 1958 and 1959. He set the record for being the first defenseman to make 500 points. Gadsy retired in 1966 and is currently ranked 63rd in the 100 Ranger Greats.
