Ben Sheets is a Major League Baseball pitcher of the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team. He is a very powerful player possessing one of the best fastballs in Major Leagues.
He graduated in St. Amant High School and studied at Northeast Louisiana University when he was in college. He got a baseball scholarship in the school. Sheets made his professional debut with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League in 1999. He had amazingly struck out eight batters on their play against the Idaho Falls Chukars on August 1999. He garnered an average strikeout of 10.09 batters per nine innings. He was chosen for the United States national team in 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He had pitched a total of 22 innings, struck out 11 batters, walked one, and gave 11 hits in the tournament.
It was on 2001 when Sheets was promoted to the Brewer’s starting rotation and gone 11-10 in that season with a powerful 4.76 ERA. He established himself as a strikeout threat in 2004 where he threw 264. In the same season, Sheets struck out 18 batters in a game against the Atlanta Braves. In 2004, Sheets’ fastball was clocked regularly at 96 to 98 miles per hour. And on June 13, 2004, he had struck out three batters on nine pitches during the third inning of a 5-4 loss to the Houston Astros.
