Barney McCosky (full name: William Barney McCosky; no nicknames) played outfielder from 1939 until 1953 for the Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Athletics, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians. He played for the Tigers from 1939 - 1946, Athletics from 1946 - 1951, Reds in 1951 and Indians from 1951 - 1953. Over 11 seasons, he played 1170 games, hit 24 home runs, drove in 664 runs, and stole 58 bases. Born on April 11, 1917 in Coal Run, PA, McCosky stood 6' 1" and weighed 184 lb. He attended Southwestern (Detroit, MI) high school. His debut was on April 18, 1939 and he played his final game on July 8, 1953. Common misspellings of his name include William Barney mccoskey McCosky.
