Bama Rowell (full name: Carvel William Rowell; no nicknames) played second baseman, leftfielder and third baseman from 1939 until 1948 for the Boston Bees, Boston Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. He played for the Bees from 1939 - 1940, Braves from 1941 - 1947 and Phillies in 1948. Over 6 seasons, he played 574 games, hit 19 home runs, drove in 200 runs, and stole 37 bases. Born on January 13, 1916 in Citronelle, AL, Rowell stood 5' 11" and weighed 185 lb. He attended Citronelle (Citronelle, AL) high school. His debut was on September 4, 1939 and he played his final game on October 2, 1948. Common misspellings of his name include Carvel Bama William Rowell.
