 Bailey E. Howell is a retired professional basketball player who was listed t 6 ft. 7 in. and played as a forward. Born on January 20, 1937 in Middleton, Texas, he played college basketball at Mississippi State University where he was known as a first rate forward. He holds the college’s records on points scored for a single game, scored points for entire college career and single-season free throws made. He made remarkable scoring record according to statistics which he continued to do in the National Basketball Association. He spent 12 seasons in the league and played for the Detroit Pistons, the Boston Celtics, the Baltimore Bullets and was included in the All-Star team for six times.

 

For his entire NBA career, he made 17, 770 points and was named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997. With the Boston Celtics, he achieved two NBA championships. According to reviews, his greatest seasons came as a member of the Baltimore Bullets and the Boston Celtics.

 

Famous for his hook shot, he was honored and was regarede as one of the greatest players in NBA. Middleton High School gymnasium was named after him and n award for the best college basketball players in Mississippi was also honored to him and was named as Bailey Howell Award. Over 12 seasons, he played 951 games, scored 17770 points (18.7 ppg) and grabbed 9383 rebounds (9.9 rpg). Howell also dished out 1853 assists (1.9 apg), made steals (0.0 spg), and blocked shots (0.0 bpg) during his career. Born in Middleton, Tennessee on January 20, 1937, Howell stands 6-7 and weighs 210 lbs. He attended high school at Middleton in Middleton, Tennessee and college at Mississippi State University. He was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the 1st round (2nd pick, 2nd overall) of the 1959 NBA draft. He was inducted into Hall of Fame as Player in 1997.
