Az-Zahir Hakim is an American football wide receiver for San Diego Chargers of the National Football League and has also played for the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions. He was first discovered in the fourth round of the 1998 National Football League when he played for the St. Louis Rams at Sand Diego State University.
Hakim has played as quarterback, wide receiver, and defensive back at the Fairfax High School in Los Angeles. It is also where he played basketball and ran track. Hakim caught 3 passes for 595 yards when he was a senior at San Diego State. In 1998, he spent four seasons playing in St. Louis. He has also appeared in two Super Bowls where he won one game. After that, he was chosen to be in the Pro Bowl in 2002 for Special teams. It was in 2004 when Hakim has not played that much due to an injury. However, with his case, he has managed to score three receiving touchdowns. ]
He signed with the Saints in 2005 and he had declared his retirement from football in 2006. He signed again to Detroit Lions in the same year but in October 2006, the Detroit Lions released him. He was then taken by the San Diego Chargers when one of their players had an injury.

He was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the 4th round (96th overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft.
