Art Shires (full name: Charles Arthur Shires; Art The Great) played first baseman in 1932 for the Boston Braves. He played for the Braves in 1932. Over 4 seasons, he played 290 games, hit 11 home runs, drove in 118 runs, and stole 8 bases. Born on August 13, 1906 in Italy, TX, Shires stood 6' 1" and weighed 195 lb. He attended Waxahachie (Waxahachie, TX) (All Transactions) high school. His debut was on August 20, 1928 and he played his final game on July 31, 1932. Over his career, Shires made $7,500.
