About Art Powell Memorabilia & Collectibles

Arthur Powell was a former football player who hails from Dallas, Texas. He spent his high school football career at San Diego High School where he set records in being a wide receiver. He played college football at San Jose State University and caught the attention of many scouts for his remarkable plays in the said university.

His career started in the American Football League. He appeared for the New York Titans and the Oakland Raiders of the said league. According to reviews, his greatest assets are his built, his speed and his determination to always show his best in the football field. He recorded the highest number of touchdowns in the 1960 season and in 1962, posted the highest number of receiving yards. He started playing professionally in 1959 when he was chosen to play for the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League draft. He played for a few National Hockey League teams like the Minnesota Vikings. His career receptions were the 18th highest in the NFL history.

He was included in the AFL All-Star team from 1963 to 1966 and was named to the All-Time All-AFL team. He also played for the Oakland Raiders where he posted 16 touchdowns and made 73 passes for 1, 394 yards.

Art Powell (fullname: Arthur Louis Powell; no nicknames) played Defensive Back from 1959 until 1968 for the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Titans, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings. He played 117 games, intercepted 3 passes and recovered 2 fumbles. Born in Dallas, TX on February 25, 1937, Powell stands 6'3 and weighs 211 lbs. He attended college at San Jose State. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 11th round (123rd overall) of the 1959 NFL Draft.
