Check out this interview with Robyn Jarrett of the Georgia Golf Hall of fame! interviewed by: Michael Gallucci Hi Robyn, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to discuss the The Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and your site, gghf.org. What is your background and what inspired you to launch this site? It's my pleasure, Mike. Thank you for the opportunity. I have been with the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame (GGHF) since Summer 2005. While I would love to take credit for the original concept of gghf.org, I just can't. My predecessors are to thank for the birth of such a quality site. It is my responsibility however, to continue with their tradition of excellence and with RedWolf, Inc. at the helm, I'd like to think that the transition has been seamless. How did the The Georgia Golf Hall of Fame get started and where is it located? The GGHF was formed as an act of the Georgia General Assembly in 1982, to fulfill its mission: The GGHF is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Georgia's golf traditions, heritage, achievements and excellence. I believe that 2008 is going to be a pivotal year for our organization. Our board of directors is comprised of truly engaged members that care about this game and the GGHF. They have put in place a strategic plan and fundraising strategy to help secure a "home" for all of the greats in Georgia golf. We will be kicking off 2008 with a bang at our 20th Annual Induction Ceremony held on January 12, 2008, where we will honor three distinguished and decorated Georgians for their contributions and achievements. Can you tell me about some noteworthy Georgia Golf Hall of Famer’s? Oh my, there are so many that it's hard to choose! To date, the GGHF has inducted 75 members, including such greats as Tommy Barnes, Jim Dent, Nancy Lopez, Davis Love, Larry Mize and of course, the incomparable Bobby Jones. Especially dear to me at the moment are the three inductees being enshrined in January. They are Bunky Henry from Reynolds Plantation, Jack Lumpkin from Sea Island and Spencer Sappington from Milton. Of course, more information on this most prestigious night in Georgia golf, or for bios on our current members or new inductees can be found on our site, gghf.org. How do you see your site evolving in a few years down the road? Are there any features you would like to implement which you haven't already? At the top of my list is the creation of a virtual hall of fame, because the GGHF does not yet have a facility to house its memorabilia, pictures, etc. I envision a place where visitors can learn so much more about our members than what their professional biographies provide. We have hours of personal interviews conducted by the GGHF on file, hundreds of artifacts from golf clubs to magazine articles that I want golf fans to enjoy and appreciate until we have a permanent home to display them. I am actively seeking sponsors/grants to make this project happen and I'm optimistic that it will happen in the near future.
