About Antoine Vermette Memorabilia & Collectibles
Currently with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Antoine Vermette is a Canadian professional ice hockey athlete in the National hockey League. He was born on July 20, 1982 in Saint Agapit, Quebec.
He was formerly playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He scored a major junior career record of 119 points in 2000- 2001 after he returned to the QJMHL for two more seasons after being drafted. Because of an injury from Canada’s national junior team evaluation camp, Vermette was limited to just 4 games in the regular hockey season. He went back to the play offs to throw in 26 points in 22 games, becoming the Tigres’ leaders in the 2002 Presidential Cup as QMJHL champions and made an appearance in the 2002 Memorial Cup in Guelph, ending with silver in the tournament, losing to the Kootenay Ice in the finals.
From the junior leagues, Vermette started with Ottawa’s American Hockey League affiliate in 2002 -2003 season, the Binghamton Senators. Vermette’s scores and statistics earned him a place in the All- Rookie team and in the following season got a spot in the NHL roster with Ottawa out of training camp. For his first season in the National Hockey League, he scored 14 points in 57 games.
He became second to Jason Spezza in team scoring in the 2004- 2005 season when he returned to Binghamton. By the 2006-2007 season, Vermette continued showing improvements; he increased his total points to 39. Vermette scored an amazing goal from behind the net through his legs on the short side on December 2, 2006 and this was named as TSN’s Goal of the Season. His first career hat trick was recorded on April 3, 2008 and after completing the season signed another 2- year contract with the Blue Jackets.
