Anthony Goldwire is a professional basketball player who has appeared in the National Basketball Association as well as a number of overseas leagues. He was born in West Palm Beach, Florida and attended the University of Houston. He was picked by the Phoenix Suns in during the second round of the 1994 NBA Draft. Goldwire was the 25th overall pick in the draft.
However, Goldwire didn’t debut for the Suns in the NBA. Rather, he spent his first seasons in the Continental Basketball Association and played for the Yakima Sun Kings. While playing in the CBA, Goldwire was named into the Second All-Rookie Team for the 1994 season. He also led the Yakima Sun Kings to the CBA finals. The team was able to clinch that year’s championship.
In 1996, Goldwire was signed by the Charlotte Hornets and played for all of the Hornets games during the 1997 season. After appearing in all 82 games, Goldwire was able to come up with an average of 9.2 ppg and 3.4 apg.
The Denver Nuggets acquired Goldwire together with George Zidek and was able to play in 27 games for Nuggets. During his stay with the team, Goldwire was able to come up with an average of 7.3 ppg and 4.6 apg.
