Angela Marie Ruggiero currently plays professional ice hockey as a defense man. She is from Panorama City, California and played ice hockey even in high school at the Choate Rosemary Hall. She spent her collegiate career playing for Harvard University.
As a high school student, Ruggiero was part of the US National Team that won the gold medal in the 1998 Olympics in Japan and was also part of the silver- winning team in the 2002 Olympics. In her college senior year, she won the Patty Kazmaier Award for being the best player in US women’s collegiate hockey. She turned pro when she joined the Tulsa Oilers and was helpful to the team in a game against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League. She played a major role in a game against the US National Team against the Canadian Team in the 2005 Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships. When she joined the Minnesota Whitecaps, she played with Manon Rheaume of the 1998 Canadian National Ice Hockey team. She was made the alternate captain of the US Olympic hockey team in January 2010.
