Andrew Pafko, nicknamed “Andy”, is a retired Major League Baseball player who was born in Boyceville, Wisconsin. According to many reviews, his popularity was attributed to his good hits and great fielding skills which he showcased in his entire Major League Baseball career. He started playing in the majors in 1943 for the Chicago Cubs. His first game in the Major League Baseball was on September 24, 1943 for the Cubs. He was part of the Cubs team that competed in the 1945 World Series and started to become a crows favorite after his impressive plays in that series. He stayed with the Cubs until 1951 and after his stint with the team; he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1951 and stayed with the team until 1952. His last team in the Major League Baseball was the Milwaukee Bucks with which he played his final game on September 29, 1959. A right-handed batter and thrower, he spent 17 seasons in the league and recorded .285 batting average and scored 213 home runs with 976 runs batted in. He appeared in 1, 852 games. After his major league career, he worked as a manager for a few minor league system teams in the Carolina League. He was included in the Chicago Cubs All-Century team.
