 Born on March 6, 1978 in Houston, Texas, Andre Bernard Gurode is a professional football player for the National Football League team Dallas Cowboys. He started out as a high school football player at North Shore High School where he became an All-American selection by the USA Today. He was also a PrepStar selection and a member of SuperPrep All-America selection. He became a member of the Colorado Buffaloes in college and bagged numerous recognitions as the team’s guard and center. Among these were the John Mack Award which he received when he was a junior and being a College Football All-America Team in 2001. He was also included in the All-Big 12 team.

 

According to sources, he entered the National Football League in 2002 as a fifth pick of the Dallas Cowboys. That year, he played as a starting center for the first six seasons and later on moved to being a guard and part of the offensive line.

 

Dallas Cowboys head coach in 2003, Bill Parcells, was convinced that Gurode plays best as a guard. That year, he appeared in 15 games as a guard and in 2004 played the same position in 13 games. However, he went back to being a center in 2005. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2006 and after that season, he was included to the NFL All-Pro Team in 2007 and 2009 and to the Pro Bowl in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
