Andra Bernard Franklin was born August 22, 1959 and died in December 6, 2006. He was the son of Sallie Franklin. He was an NFL running back from 1981 to 1984 for the team Miami Dolphins . While in college, he joined and played for the University of Nebraska. It was in 2006, the he died of a heart failure.
He was the fullback who rushed for a career-record number of yards at NU. His Honors and Awards included the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame Inductee (1990), the Four-Year NFL Veteran (Miami), Second-Round Draft Pick, 1981 NFL Draft (Miami) and the First-Team All-Big Eight, 1980. In 1980, Franklin finished his third season as starting fullback for Nebraska. Sources say that he rushed 120 times for 678 yards as well as 122-yard efforts against Missouri and Oklahoma. He was also part of the Huskers' starting fullback, where he accomplished 583 yards on 110 carries and was an excellent blocker. One of his highlighted top games was against Missouri, when Franklin ran for 81 yards on nine carries versus the Tigers. Franklin played great while part of the Kansas State by picking up 54 yards and a touchdown on six carries. It was in 1977 that he was a backup fullback for a varsity, the Huskers. In 1978, he completed Nebraska's season with three touchdowns and gained the award of All-Big Eight honors.
