About Alex Van Pelt Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles
Alex Van Pelt was a former football player in the National Football League. He was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Van Pelt actively played as quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. Van Pelt took his college education at the University of Pittsburg where he also played college football and became a star quarterback during his college football career. He was listed at 6 ft. 1 in. and 220 lbs. Van Pelt started his professional career in the National Football League after he was drafted by the Pittsburg Steelers during the 1993 NFL Draft where he was the eighth round draft pick of the team. Van Pelt however, failed to make the opening game line up and was immediately released by the Steelers.
Van Pelt was then acquired by the Buffalo Bills in 1994, where he played his entire professional football career. In his fourth season as a Bill, Van Pelt had his first game as a starter on December 2, 1997 in a match against the Miami Dolphins. In 2001, Van Pelt started in seven games and played well during that year which justifies a contract extension, sources say. Van Pelt’s starter games were never repeated again after 2001 when the Bills acquired Drew Bledsoe from the New England Patriots. After Van Pelt’s retirement from football in 2004, he became John Murphy's partner on Bills Radio Network broadcasts. Van Pelt did some color commentary for the radio broadcast of all Bills games until the 2005 season.
