About Alex Rodriguez Baseball Cards and Tickets
One of the most memorable shortstops in Major League Baseball history has to be Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez. Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez was born a New Yorker on July 27, 1975 but was raised in the Dominican Republic before moving to Miami a few years later. He had an early love of the game, spending a lot of time playing ball at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami. It was there where he met the club’s baseball coach Eddie Rodriguez, who continued to help A-rod with his training even when he reached the major leagues. Alex also followed the Major Leagues on television as a child, admiring such players as Dave Murphy and
Cal Ripken, Jr. It was Ripken who really inspired Alex to become a shortstop, and his dream came true when he not only met Ripken but played with him, took over his position and broke many of his records later on.
Alex Rodriguez was first chosen as the no. 1 overall pick and signed with the
Seattle Mariners on June of 1993. He officially debuted at the Major Leagues when he was only 18 years old. His talent quickly became recognized as he started receiving many accolades including several American League Silver Slugger Awards and being the third player ever in the history of Major League Baseball to be in the esteemed 40-40 club, hitting 42 home runs and stealing 46 bases.
He plowed through games despite injuries before moving on to play for the
Texas Rangers in 2001 where he won his first MVP award; and the New York Yankees in 2004. By 2005, A-rod won his second American League Most Valuable Player Award.
