About Alex Goligoski Memorabilia & Collectibles
Alex Goligoski has been playing hockey most of his life. In fact, unlike other players, Goligoski was first drafted during the NFL Entry Draft before he went on to play collegiate hockey. Goligoski was born in Minnesota and went on to play for the junior ice hockey league in the country which is the United States Hockey League. Goligoski played for the River City Lancers in 2002 and then the Sioux Falls Stampede in the succeeding season.
During the 2004 NFL Entry Draft, Goligoski was picked by the Pittsburgh Penguins during the second round of the draft. He was the 61st overall pick. After being signed, Goligoski decided to enter the University of Minnesota and played for the institution for three years.
In 2007, Goligoski made his professional debut for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AFL. After an impressive performance in the minors, Goligoski was called up by the Penguins during a February game against the Boston Bruins.
Goligoski was able to play for the Penguins during the 2008 Stanley Cup that the team won. He earned a roster in the team after Sergei Gonchar and Ryan Whitney were injured during the 2008 season. With a three year extension on his contract, Goligoski is a player to watch out for.
