Alan Henderson is a retired professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. Henderson was born in Morgantown, West Virginia but studied in Indianapolis, Indiana. Henderson went to the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. In Indiana, Henderson was the star of his basketball team. During the Goodwill Games, Henderson was named to the U.S. Team.
Henderson decided to study at Indiana University and was famous for his rebounding. In the entire history of Indiana University, Henderson is the only student who is able to be included in the top five for points, rebounds, steals and block steals for its entire history. Henderson graduated with a degree in biology and was accepted in Howard University School of Medicine.
Henderson joined the 1995 NBA Draft and was picked by the Atlanta Hawks during the first round; he was the sixteenth overall pick. During the 1997-98 season, Henderson was awarded with the NBA Most Improved Player Award.
In 2004, Henderson was traded to the Dallas Mavericks and then to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2005. After being waived by the Bucks shortly, Henderson was claimed off the waivers by the Cleveland Cavaliers where he was assigned as a reserve power forward. Henderson also played for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Utah Jazz.

Alan Henderson (full name: Alan Lybrooks Henderson; no nicknames) played Forward from 1996 until 2007 for the Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers. Over 12 seasons, he played 652 games, scored 5094 points (7.8 ppg) and grabbed 3249 rebounds (5.0 rpg). Henderson also dished out 397 assists (0.6 apg), made 364 steals (0.6 spg), and blocked 297 shots (0.5 bpg) during his career. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 2, 1972, Henderson stands 6-9 and weighs 235 lbs. He attended high school at Brebeuf Jesuit in Indianapolis, Indiana and college at Indiana University. He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the 1st round (16th pick, 16th overall) of the 1995 NBA draft.
